To Echo MasterOwens, My absolute favorite lure in Florida is the popper frog. If you can't access any topwater lures at all, just go with a bass jig. Unfortunately, as you know, I've got limited tackle and rod room (Currently limited to 3 rods until I get some more money). Frogs are the absolute best, but they'll all pull in bass for you. In more open water or clear water scenarios, switching to heavy 17-20 pound fluorocarbon is common. Line: Most anglers swim jigs on braided line in 40-65 pound test around heavy vegetation and wood. But I figured this would be a really neat trip. Reel: Swim jig experts usually use a heavy-duty baitcaster in a moderate fast gear ratio between 6.1 and 7.1:1. I'm mostly interested in the larger stuff - Gars, Bass, Drum, Tarpon and those bigger cats. I know this is open ended, but what kinds of tackle should I be taking there in order to make the most of my time? I'd like to try and stay for a few days to make some money back and level up, but usually my first trip to a location is a bust, and I'm saving up for a kayak and would rather not waste the money.
